Pablo Gavi has been done dirty by Alessandro Bastoni’s Instagram post after Inter’s win against Barcelona

Inter Milan edged Barcelona in the Champions League on Tuesday night.

Alessandro Bastoni savaged Pablo Gavi on Instagram after Inter Milan’s 1-0 win over Barcelona in the Champions League on Tuesday night.

In what was a cagey affair between two of the biggest clubs in world football, it was the Serie A giants who came out on top.

Midfielder Hakan Calhanoglu’s brilliant strike during stoppage time in the first half was enough to ensure that all three points were to stay at the San Siro.

However, Barcelona were incensed at the end of the match after they were denied what looked like a clear penalty in added time.

Inter full-back Denzel Dumfries appeared to handle the ball inside the area, after a lengthy VAR check, the decision was made that he had not conclusively knocked away Ansu Fati’s cross with his hand. As a result, no penalty was given and Inter held on for a 1-0 victory.

After the match, with Inter’s players in a jubilant mood, Italian defender Bastoni took to Instagram to troll Barcelona’s young star Gavi.

Bastoni posted pictures of him dragging the young Spanish midfielder’s shirt whilst the player was falling to the ground.

The centre back captioned the post with: “Victory of heart and character.”

Fans reacted to the Inter man’s post on social media.

One said: “Bastoni dragging Gavi and Barcelona to the Europa League.”

Another commented: “Gavi has been done dirty by Bastoni there, what a picture man hahaha.”

Whilst a Barcelona fan responded with: “Gavi will be playing for Spain in the World Cup, where will you be with Italy?”

At the end of the match, Barcelona manager Xavi stated that his team now have ‘three finals’ to overcome if they are to make it through to the next round of the Champions League.

He said: “We have three more finals to come.

“This is a game we have lost, but now we have two games at home from the three and they are real finals.

“We have to show more intensity. The first half wasn't good, we have to be self-critical - but of course we are offended today.”

Barcelona will host Inter at the Camp Nou next week before facing Bayern Munich and Viktoria Plzen.

Will Xavi’s side make it out of the group? Only time will tell.
