Barcelona Set For €200 Million Cash Boost But They Still Can't Sign Players

Barcelona Set For €200 Million Cash Boost But They Still Can't Sign Players

La Liga giants Barcelona have some serious money troubles but a €200 million cash injection won't actually help them sign players.

Barcelona are set for a €200 million cash boost to the club, but it's not actually going to help them sign Robert Lewandowski or any one else.

It's not exactly a secret that Barcelona have been struggling with financial problems over the last couple of years, leading to Lionel Messi leaving the club last summer.

They have somehow managed to sign players in the past year, although only with others leaving or having their wages reduced, in order to keep within their La Liga mandated wage budget.

However, Barca are still desperate to sign players this summer, with Robert Lewandowski their number one target, but have so far been unable to put together the funds.

They need to bring in money by the end of play on June 30th, as their budget for the next year will be decided on July 1st, which is why Frenkie de Jong's sale deadline is for the 30th.

According to Marca, the Catalan giants have found a new way to make some cash, and they're set for a €200 million windfall because of it.

The Spanish outlet claims that the club are set to sell "10% of national television rights for an amount that will be over 200 million euros."

However, despite the large amount of money set to come in at the Nou Camp, it's not like the club will be able to see it go out to any new players.

No salary can be released with the money as it will need to be used on squaring the balance in the books for this year, having not reached the budget set earlier in the year.

As long as the current income can't compensate for the club's losses then they won't be able to register new players to play for them.

That's not good news for their attempts to try and sign Robert Lewandowski from Bayern Munich, not that the German side are keen on him departing.

The Poland forward could buy himself out of his contract at the Allianz Arena but it won't save Barca from the issues of being able to register his wages.

The club have also been linked with Bernardo Silva, and it's no wonder that Pep Guardiola was quite dismissive of the idea recently.
