Barcelona Defender 'Unhappy At Nou Camp, Keen To Move To Bayern Munich'

Sergino Dest is said to be unhappy under new Barcelona boss Xavi.

Barcelona full-back Sergino Dest is keen to leave the Nou Camp for Bayern Munich, according to reports in Spain.

The 21-year-old right-back has struggled for form since joining the Catalan giants from Ajax in a £23.8m move in October, 2020.

Dest was signed by Barelona’s former head coach Ronald Koeman, who was sacked in October, and the United States international has reportedly become disillusioned under new boss Xavi.

Catalan newspaper El Nacional claims Xavi does not rate Dest and instead prefers Oscar Mingueza, Ronald Araujo and Sergi Roberto at right-back.

Dest is also facing further competition for places following the return of club legend Dani Alves, who rejoined Barcelona last month on a reported wage of just one euro per month.

El Nacional claims that Dest has contacted German champions Bayern Munich over a potential move to the Bundesliga.

Bayern were reportedly keen to sign the right-back before his move to the Nou Camp.

The report suggests Xavi would not stand in the way if Dest wants to leave and Barcelona would consider selling in January if an offer in the region of a €30m (£25.7m) is made.

By chance, Barcelona travel to face Bayern Munich in the Champions League on Wednesday night.

The Catalan club could be eliminated from the competition if they lose at the Allianz Arena and third place Benfica beat bottom club Dynamo Kiev.

Four-time Champions League winner Xavi is hopeful his side can reach the knockout stages despite the strength of their opponents.

He said: "I am working, the same the team is, to win tomorrow and make it to best sixteen. That is our reality. We logically have other competitions.

“La Liga will tell us how far we've reached by the end of the season. But we can't let go of any competition.

“We are Barcelona and we must try to win all competitions. Copa del Rey, Supercups, La Liga and Champions League."
