BREAKING: Bayern Munich 'sack' Julian Nagelsmann and line up blockbuster replacement

Bayern Munich have 'sacked' Julian Nagelsmann, despite leading them to the quarter finals of the Champions League yet again.

For the past decade, Bayern have been the best team in Germany by some distance, winning the Bundesliga title for 10 years in-a-row.

They have also been one of the major players in Europe, winning the Champions League in 2013 and 2020, also regularly reaching the latter stages.

Under Nagelsmann, however, they found themselves under the risk of not winning the title, with Borussia Dortmund challenging them in the title race.

Ahead of the international break, their 2-1 loss to Bayer Leverkusen, coupled with Dortmund's win against Koln, had left the champions in second place.

Such has Bayern's domination been that it's the first time in those 10 years that they have been second in the league after 25 matches of the campaign.

That has clearly panicked the club's board, with Bild and Fabrizio Romano reporting that the former RB Leipzig manager has been sacked.

According to the Italian journalist, the German is set to be replaced by former Dortmund boss Thomas Tuchel, who was sacked by Chelsea earlier this season, having already agreed a deal with Bayern.

Tuchel had been heavily linked with being the latest former Blues boss to become manager at Tottenham Hotspur, following in the footsteps of Andre Villas Boas, Jose Mourinho and current manager Antonio Conte.

Conte's time at north London is expected to be over soon, after his side threw away a 3-1 lead against bottom of the Premier League Southampton last week.

Following the latest set back to the season, having been knocked out of the FA Cup and Champions League in recent weeks, Conte was not happy.

The Italian took to his press conference to go in on his players and the fallout is expected to lose him his job, though one of the candidates is now seemingly off the table for chairman Daniel Levy.

Nagelsmann had his own issues before his sacking, recently claiming that there was a 'mole' amongst his group, after his side's tactics were leaked.

The former centre back leaves Tuchel one point off the top of the league and with a game against Manchester City in the Champions League, the former PSG boss won the European title with Chelsea.
