One football fan's dream came true after predicting that Stoke City would draw against Sheffield Wednesday and Colchester United would win late on against Cambridge United.

Now, almost all of us have had those bizarre dreams in the past, but when it comes to football, this punter had no intention of allowing this funny feeling to not have a cheeky bet placed on it.

"Just had a dream Colchester scored a 90th [minute] winner today against Cambridge and me and Pep Guardiola were in [the] corporate area at Stoke's ground and I think they drew 0-0," reads the WhatsApp message.

"Now I have no idea what this means, but I'm pretty sure it's a sign. And I've checked, Stoke are at home (against Weds, though)."

Well, it turned out to be one hell of a sign.

While Guardiola was busy on Saturday with his Manchester City side beating Fulham 2-0, this fan decided to drop £4 on bets that centred on the Stoke City and Colchester matches.

The punter betted on a 0-0 draw between Stoke City and Sheffield Wednesday, which would be the full-time result of the match at the bet365 Stadium.

Meanwhile, the second bet was predicting Colchester to win 1-0 against Cambridge, but there was another wager placed on the match.

That's right, the punter betted that the winner would be scored on or after the 81st minute of the match.

Step up Kane Vincent-Young, who scored in the 96th minute to hand Colchester a 1-0 victory over Cambridge at the Abbey Stadium.

Crazy, right?

Of course, the punter walked with his return of £351 -- it's not one of the biggest betting wins we have seen -- but talk about going with your gut feeling after a strange dream, eh?

Unsurprisingly, football fans were also in awe over the bet coming to fruition and have shared their thoughts on the matter on social media.

"Literally what dreams are made of," one user wrote on Facebook.

A second said: "Why don't I have these dreams?"

Someone else wrote: "Imagine the scenes."

A fourth added: "Dreams do come true."

What did you make of the bet?
