Fans spot the genius film reference in Harry Kane's hat-trick celebration for Bayern Munich against Borussia Dortmund

Fans believe there was a genius film reference from Harry Kane after his stunning Bundesliga hat-trick in Bayern Munich's 4-0 hammering of Borussia Dortmund on Saturday.

After a shock, last-gasp DFB Pokal defeat to third tier Saarbrucken on Wednesday, the Bavarians were a wounded animal and Dortmund felt their wrath in Der Klassiker.

Dayot Upamecano opened the scoring just four minutes in before Kane bagged a third hat-trick in the German top flight since his £86 million move from Spurs.

The England captain notched his first in the ninth minute before making it a trio of goals in the 72nd and 92nd minute.

Kane now has 15 goals in his first 10 league games for Thomas Tuchel's side and he celebrated by showing three fingers.

Of course it was a nod to how many goals he had scored but interestingly used different fingers as what is normally displayed in England.

In England, one would typically show their index, middle and ring fingers. Yet for Germans, their take on the gesture would include the middle finger, index finger and thumb.

That was the signal Kane went for and fans believe there was a reference to the Quentin Tarantino's 2009 classic World War 2 film, 'Inglorious Basterds.

In the film, Lieutenant Archie Hicox, played by Michael Fassbender, is an undercover British soldier pretending to be part of the German military.

He end up blowing his cover in a tavern in France when he asks for three glasses but does the English gesture.

Kane doing the German version led to a flurry of responses.

One wrote: "Bro passed the Inglourious Basterds test."

A second said: "Already figured out how to do a three with his fingers in German I see."

A third added: "Harry Kane has watched Inglorious Basterds. When in Germany do as the Germans would."

A fourth weighed in, writing: "I’m convinced Harry Kane learned how to hold up three fingers the German way from Inglorious Basterds."

A fifth user commented: "Harry Kane has watched Inglorious Basterds confirmed."

A final person stated: "Harry Kane would have survived Inglorious Basterds."

Kane will look to continue his fine form against Galatasaray in the Champions League on Wednesday.
