Lewandowski has made his feelings clear.

Robert Lewandowski has already made his feelings clear on Harry Kane after the striker's summer move to Bayern Munich.

The 35-year-old spent eight years at Bayern between 2014 and 2022, scoring 344 goals in 375 games in all competitions and helping the German giants to win the Champions League in 2021.

The Poland international left the club to join Barcelona in the summer of 2022.

Bayern, meanwhile, opted not to replace him that summer, with Kane effectively his successor having joined in a £100 million move from Tottenham in August.

The England captain has hit the ground running in Munich, netting 21 goals in just 15 appearances and even scoring from inside his own half.

And a Bayern Munich source has claimed to The Athletic that Kane's team-mates are impressed with his attention to detail, tactical knowledge and high standards.

The same source also claimed, however, that Lewandowski cared more about his own goal record than the club itself.

But away from the thoughts of the Bayern dressing room, Lewandowski and Kane are two of the leading strikers in the world - making the Pole a good judge of his successor's skills as a striker.

And he is extremely impressed by what he has seen of the 30-year-old.

Speaking at the SportBild 2023 awards (quotes via the official Bundesliga website) after the transfer was completed, Lewandowski described the Kane transfer as 'huge'.

He explained: "It's a huge transfer. Not only for Bayern, but the whole Bundesliga.

"He's undoubtedly a great striker, a brilliant striker. The Bundesliga isn't an easy league; he'll definitely need some time to adjust, but I'm sure he'll be able to perform at a high level and show his skills."

Kane could end up breaking a Bundesliga goal record set by Lewandowski by the end of his first season.

The Pole scored 41 goals during the 2020/21 season, overtaking the record set by the late Gerd Muller. And with 17 goals in his first 11 Bundesliga appearances, Kane is currently on course to break that record for the second time in just three years.
