Bayern Munich 'source' reveals real reason why Thomas Tuchel is on the brink of being sacked

A Bayern Munich 'source' has revealed the real reason why manager Thomas Tuchel risks being sacked.

Bayern Munich have won the Bundesliga in each of the last 11 seasons, but their hunt for silverware this year is at risk of ending with three months of the campaign still remaining.

On Sunday Bayern lost 3-2 to relegation threatened Bochum, a third defeat in nine days that leaves Tuchel's side eight points adrift of Bundesliga leaders Bayer Leverkusen with just 12 games remaining.

Last weekend Bayern were thrashed 3-0 by Xabi Alonso's Leverkusen, and their Champions League hopes hang in the balance after losing 1-0 to Lazio in the first leg of their last-16 tie.

Bayern were knocked out of the German cup by third tier Saarbrucken in November, and performances since have been patchy to say the least.

The Bavarian club were lucky to win the Bundesliga last season, and had to rely on Borussia Dortmund slipping up on the final day.

Being the manager to oversee the end of Bayern's Bundesliga dominance isn't a great look for Tuchel, but it's not the main reason why he could be sacked.

According to The Athletic, an anonymous source at Bayern says Tuchel has failed to forge bonds with many of the players, largely because he has publicly criticised them on several occasions.

"He’s undermined everybody," a senior member of Bayern’s leadership told The Athletic.

Other figures at Bayern believe that too many well-paid personalities in the dressing room have lost their hunger and fight, and Tuchel is largely to blame.

The frustration among Bayern's stars was clear on Sunday, especially when Joshua Kimmich clashed with assistant coach Zsolt Low after the match.

According to The Athletic, Bayern have already approached their former coach Hansi Flick about potentially coming in as an emergency replacement for Tuchel.

However, following Flick's disastrous spell as Germany boss, not all senior figures at the club are convinced he could rescue their season.

Bayern chief executive Jan-Christian Dreesen said that Tuchel will be in the dugout when Bayern face RB Leipzig on Saturday, although he warned that "such oaths of loyalties don’t tend to last more than a week."
