Burnley's sensational Shrek-themed transfer announcement video is an absolute must-watch, it's completed the internet

Burnley's sensational Shrek-themed transfer announcement video is an absolute must-watch, it's completed the internet

"This is brilliant. Love the creativity." Lyle Foster's transfer to Burnley has been praised as the best announcement video of all time.

Burnley have been hailed by fans after the Championship club produced a sensational parody of Shrek to announce the arrival of a new January signing.

The Clarets snapped up Lyle Foster from Belgian side Westerlo in the transfer window, with the South Africa forward signing a four-and-a-half-year deal.

Foster’s arrival will provide Burnley manager Vincent Kompany with more attacking firepower in his bid to secure Premier League football for his side again.

The Clarets, who were relegated from the Premier League last season, are top of the Championship after 28 matches and sit five points clear of Sheffield United.

Burnley welcomed Foster to Turf Moor in incredible style by parodying a scene from the much-beloved 2001 film Shrek (watch it in the video player above).

The scene used for the Burnley video is where the main antagonist of Shrek, Lord Farquaad, is presented with a slideshow of princesses from the Magic Mirror.

Instead of being presented with Cinderella, Snow White and Princess Fiona, Burnley hilariously replaced the trio with Lionel Messi, Cristiano Ronaldo and Foster.

The Shrek-themed video, which was posted on social media, left fans in stitches and was hailed by some as perhaps the best transfer announcement of all time.

One fan said: “Whoever thought of this needs a pay rise!”

Another added: “This is brilliant! Made my day.”

“This is the best announcement I’ve ever seen,” someone else tweeted.

While a fourth Twitter user wrote: “This announcement video is the most perfect of them all.”

A fifth posted: “This is brilliant. Love the creativity.”

Foster, who scored 13 times in 47 appearances for Westerlo, said that “my heart and my head” were with Burnley after the club were interested in signing him.

“From the moment I heard that there was interest from Burnley, my heart and my head were set on the club. I’m so happy to be here now. It’s a dream for me.”
