Cadiz Defender Shows Off Gruesome Gash And Broken Foot After Tackle From Eden Hazard

Cadiz Defender Shows Off Gruesome Gash And Broken Foot After Tackle From Eden Hazard

Carlos Akapo has updated fans on social media.

Cadiz defender Carlos Akapo has shared images of his broken toes and bruised foot following a challenge from Eden Hazard in Sunday's draw with Real Madrid.

Hazard came off the bench in the second half and looked to make an impression, with the Champions League final less than two weeks away.

The Belgium international closed down Akapo in the 74th minute and attempted to stop him from getting a shot off.

He missed the ball completely and planted his studs into his opponent's foot.

Hazard was booked for the challenge and Akapo was substituted with a suspected injury.

The man himself has now confirmed he suffered two broken toes and significant bruising.

Akapo posted on social media: "Thanks to the people who have been concerned, I have the 2nd and 3rd broken. Now it's time to recover for next weekend."

Hazard reportedly sent the 29-year-old a message apologising for the challenge on Monday morning.

Real have already been crowned La Liga champions and are rotating their squad for their final few games of the season, ahead of that big showdown with Liverpool at the end of this month.

Mariano opened the scoring inside five minutes, but Ruben Sobrino equalised eight minutes before halftime.

A point for Cadiz wasn't enough to drag them out of the relegation zone after Real Mallorca's 2-1 win over Rayo Vallecano.

Cadiz are in the bottom three on goal difference and face already relegated Alaves in their final league game next Sunday.

It's been another miserable year in the Spanish capital for Hazard and he's failed to nail down a starting position.

He's suffered a number of injuries since his £100 million move from Chelsea in 2019 and many wondered if Real would cut their losses in the summer.

Manager Carlo Ancelotti has confirmed Hazard will remain at the Santiago Bernabeu, however.

"Eden Hazard will stay here at Real Madrid next season," he declared during a press conference last week.

"Hazard's plan is very clear, he wants to show his quality next season."

The 31-year-old has made 18 appearances in La Liga this campaign and registered just one assist, while failing to score a single goal.

Vinicius Jr. and Rodrygo are Los Blancos' preferred options on the wing with Marco Asensio and Federico Valverde also options out wide.
