Aberdeen right-back Calvin Ramsay is set to agree personal terms with Liverpool over the coming days, according to Fabrizio Romano. The 18-year-old has been touted as the ‘next Andy Robertson.’
The Reds are believed to have made an approach worth £4 million, but Fabrizio Romano believes Aberdeen would like to bring in £8.5 million through the sale of Ramsay.
The role Ramsay would play at Liverpool is not yet clear. Jürgen Klopp already has a couple of adequate understudies to Trent Alexander-Arnold at right-back in Joe Gomez and Neco Williams. However, neither of those players are certain their future at Anfield is secure.

Gomez has struggled to recapture his form since tearing his ACL. Meanwhile, Liverpool are said to be listening to bids in the region of £15 million for young Welsh full-back Neco Williams. He could return to Fulham, which would disappoint some Reds fans who have been impressed with his performances both on loan at Fulham and at international level.
A path could thus present itself to Ramsay to come into Liverpool and occupy the back-up right-back spot. However, with only 28 senior appearances under his belt, he still has a lot of improving to do. He could get the Kostas Tsimikas treatment next season. Tsimikas didn't even start a game in his first season at Anfield but is now trusted to start under Klopp when Andy Robertson is unavailable.
Scotland international Calvin Ramsay isn’t the only player Liverpool appear to be close to signing. As has been widely reported, Darwin Nuñez will join Liverpool in the coming days. Liverpool have presented an offer to Benfica worth £85 million which is believed to have been accepted by the Portuguese giants.
Liverpool fans will be excited by the prospect of signing Ramsay. Trent Alexander-Arnold has never had any serious competition at right-back since he broke into the first team and Ramsay could provide just that. The onus is on Ramsay to make the difficult transition from the SPFL to the Premier League look much easier than it actually is.
