Jurgen Klopp May Have Been Listening To Jamie Carragher's Impressive Advice About His Team After All

Jurgen Klopp May Have Been Listening To Jamie Carragher's Impressive Advice About His Team After All

Jamie Carragher's solid advice appears to be paying off.

Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp may have been listening to former Reds vice-captain Jamie Carragher’s advice on transfer news this summer.

The pundit, who works for Sky Sports and CBS, made comments which seemed to have been taken on board by the manager and the recruitment staff at Anfield.

"In terms of the 11, if you saw Liverpool’s 11, if they were playing Man City’s best team in a Champions League final or an FA Cup final - I’d still fancy Liverpool," he told Sky Sports.

"Over the season, you won’t be getting that first 11, Trent Alexander-Arnold missed out against City and you saw the problems James Milner had. It’s not so much that Liverpool don’t have a great squad, they do, they’re just really short in probably two areas. Right-back is a massive one as we saw against City, they’ve probably got the best set of centre-backs in the Premier League.

"The front players you’ve got Diogo Jota to add to Roberto Firmino, although that looks like a fight for a position. I do think they’re an attacker short to go and win the league."

Liverpool have addressed all of the issues Carragher mentioned already this window.

First, the recruitment of versatile wonderkid Fabio Carvalho to deputise in the attacking positions, especially now the departures of Divock Origi and Takumi Minamino will leave Liverpool a little bare.

Speaking of forwards, who can forget the potential club-record deal of Darwin Nunez? His initial £68m move could solve Liverpool’s depth problems in that number nine position.

And the arrival of Calvin Ramsay from Aberdeen completes a trio of signings in areas Carragher suggested, as he will deputise for Alexander-Arnold in that right-back position.

Now it comes into question where the Reds will strengthen next, and if it will be this window - as the central midfield and right-wing areas look a little short for numbers.

It is doubtful that the ex-Red Carragher had a true impact on the dealings, but his foresight on the business is impressive nonetheless.
