Casemiro proved he's the game-changer Manchester United have needed for years with a sublime showing in Sunday's 2-1 win over Everton.

The Brazil midfielder started his first Premier League game since arriving from Real Madrid in a £60 million move during the summer.

Within the first five minutes, he lost possession to Amadou Onana. Alex Iwobi put Frank Lampard's side ahead seconds later with a fine finish.

It didn't faze Casemiro though. He got back up and got on with the game, playing a vital role in United coming back to seal all three points at Goodison Park.

Antony equalised with his third goal in as many Premier League games, before Casemiro and Cristiano Ronaldo rolled it back to their Real Madrid days.

The 30-year-old dispossessed Iwobi in the middle of the park, spotting Ronaldo in space out wide.

He played a ball through to the five-time Ballon d'Or winner, who made no mistake slotting past Jordan Pickford for his 700th club goal.

Casemiro continued to battle away in midfield during a second half Everton grew into. He showed both sides of his game in an accomplished performance on Merseyside.

United have struggled in midfield for a number of years but could've finally found their man. Casemiro was named Player of the Match by BT Sport after a stunning 90 minutes which social media adored.

One person commented: "United fans need to realise what a gem they have on their hands."

A second put: "A midfield genius that the Premier League won't be able to handle."

Someone tweeted: "I love him already what a player."

While a fourth added: "It's been a while since I've seen a United player play like this."

United manager Erik ten Hag paid tribute to Casemiro in his post-match interview, touching on how he didn't let one mistake define his game.

Ten Hag told United's official website: "He is experienced. Even after a small mistake, he [remained] composed, he is doing the right things."

"He has a huge impact on the game by winning so many balls and always in good positions to receive balls, to link up, to pass around, and he was really important with the goal. A good ball in, a good pass to Cristiano and a good finish."

Casemiro will likely start next Sunday's game against Newcastle United following Scott McTominay's booking against Everton. McTominay will now serve a one-match ban.
