Charlie Austin confronts angry Swindon fans after 2-0 defeat to Doncaster, things got heated

The Swindon forward spoke to fans after the League Two clash on Saturday.

Charlie Austin confronted an angry group of Swindon supporters after their 2-0 defeat to Doncaster – and he didn't hold back one bit.

The 33-year-old striker, who re-signed for the League Two outfit in January, 12 years after he first left the club, has scored three goals in his first four games for the Robins.

But he couldn't find the scoresheet on Saturday as a brace from Luke Molyneux sealed a 2-0 win for Danny Schofield's side at the County Ground.

It was a disappointing result for Swindon, who currently sit behind Doncaster in England's fourth tier, and some supporters made their feelings known after the full-time whistle.

As you can see in the footage above, Charlie Austin decided to confront those fans with a passionate response.

It's difficult to work out what was exactly said for the majority of the clip but towards the end, it appears Austin says: "What you're going to do mate, you're gonna go home in about half an hour and go for a pint and a chinese."

Austin then proceeds to tell one supporter to go home – a message that brought a widely-positive reaction from the travelling support.

In fact, chants of "Charlie, Charlie Austin" rang around the County Ground as he made his way to the away dressing room.

Here's how fans on social media reacted to the clip that has since picked up almost 200,000 views on Twitter.

One said: "Fair play to him, deserves to defend himself. Not every game can we dominate. Lots of unsteadiness with changing players and coaches. Have a good evening. @chazaustin10. Just shows you give to win or lose."

Twitter user Leon, who posted the clip, replied to the above comment saying: "Yes definitely mate. This guy called him over to give some stick to him and Charlie put him in his place."

A second fan wrote: "I’ve said it many times, love Austin, just a good bloke who doesn’t take sh*t."

A third commented: "Absolutely love it when fans get put in their place by actual professionals."
