Chelsea co-owner Todd Boehly 'planning outrageous swap deal for £75m Manchester United target'

Chelsea co-owner Todd Boehly is planning an audacious swap deal to secure the services of Lazio star Sergej Milinkovic-Savic.

Chelsea co-owner Todd Boehly is planning an audacious swap deal to secure the services of Lazio star Sergej Milinkovic-Savic, according to reports.

The Blues have endured a torrid start to the season. Graham Potter’s side go into the World Cup break eighth in the table having not won a Premier League game since October 16.

The club go into the January market in dire need of recruitment, and according to reports in Italy, Boehly is looking to bring in Milinkovic-Savic, with a Chelsea player going the other way.

Milinkovic-Savic for… Loftus Cheek?

According to Calciomercato, the Blues are exploring a deal to sign Milinkovic-Savic - one of Serie A’s most sought-after midfielders.

The publication is claiming that rather than signing the Serbian in a straight cash deal, Chelsea plan to offer Ruben Loftus-Cheek as a swap.

The 25-year-old rejuvenated his Blues career under former manager Thomas Tuchel, playing as a full-back, and has been a regular this season.

As things stand Chelsea are on course to lose both N’Golo Kante and Jorginho on free transfers next summer, so midfield reinforcements will be a priority for Potter and co.

Manchester Utd target?

The Lazio star has long been touted as a Manchester United target.

The Red Devils were allegedly on his trail last summer, amid claims I Biancocelesti were willing to part ways with the player for £75million. However, the Serbian star batted away the speculation.

In a September press conference, he said: “It’s the same as every other summer. You lot always spoke about different clubs and then I started a new season with Lazio.

“We have a lot of young players, it’s the second year under coach Maurizio Sarri and we’ve got clear ideas with a stronger mentality than before.

“I’m happy that [Thursday] will be my 300th game in the Lazio shirt; I still remember the very first and all those years that have since passed.

“I don’t know what to tell you about the transfer market, that’s for my agents and the club to think about. I’m here with a smile on my face and I’m happy.”
