Reece James' reaction to Hakim Ziyech not letting him take 96th minute free-kick was priceless

Reece James was not happy with Hakim Ziyech's refusal to let him take a free-kick in Chelsea's 1-0 defeat to Dinamo Zagreb.

Reece James' reaction to Hakim Ziyech refusing to let him take a 96th minute free-kick has gone viral online.

Chelsea slipped to a 1-0 defeat to Dinamo Zagreb in their first Champions League group game, with Mislav Orsic scoring the only goal of the game in the 13th minute.

The Croatian left Chelsea's £70 million signing Wesley Fofana in the dust on the counter attack and slotted past Kepa Arrizabalaga.

Thomas Tuchel's side did not find a response and it was a frustrating night for the Blues.

Ziyech, who was heavily linked with a move in the summer window, was thrown on at half-time in place of Cesar Azpilicueta in an attempt to turn the game around.

But the Moroccan international did not have much of an impact and he left teammate James fuming late on.

Chelsea had a free-kick in a promising position in the sixth minute of stoppage time and both James and Ziyech lined up, with Mason Mount also interested.

It was in a decent position and James fancied his chance. But Ziyech did not allow his teammate to have a crack despite having a second set-piece in a matter of minutes.

That led to James pulling his face, cleary miffed at his teammate's refusal.

Ziyech smashed his free-kick straight into the wall and the ball ended up going out for a goal-kick that was celebrated by Dinamo players.

Martin Keown picked up on the interaction between Ziyech and James, who he reckons was in disbelief that the former Ajax man wanted a second dead-ball attempt

“I think you can see there’s a bit of a row taking place," Keown said on commentary.

"James is saying ‘Really, after that one? You want to take another one?’”

Things aren't quite well at Chelsea despite a £270 million outlay in the summer. The Stamford Bridge outfit sacked manager Thomas Tuchel after this result, which comes just days before the derby against Fulham this weekend.
