Christian Eriksen set to hand Man Utd massive boost as return date identified

Eriksen hasn't played since January.

Manchester United have been handed a timely boost in their quest for silverware as Christian Eriksen prepares to return to action for Erik ten Hag's side.

The Danish international hasn't featured for the Red Devils since picking up an ankle injury during United's 3-1 FA Cup victory against Reading in January.

The injury was expected to keep Eriksen out of action until the end of April, however the midfielder is ahead of schedule with his recovery and is set to return to action for United sooner than anticipated.

Eriksen 'likely to return next week'

Eriksen teased his return via a social media post earlier last week, sparking excitement among United fans who are eager to see the 31-year-old back in action at Old Trafford.

It looks as though they won't have long to wait, as the Mirror reports that Eriksen is likely to return to the United squad next week.

The Dane is not expected to be available for Sunday's clash with top-four rivals Newcastle, nor is he likely to feature against former club Brentford the following Wednesday.

However barring any further setbacks, the former Spurs favourite could be in line to return to action on Saturday, April 8th, as United welcome Everton to Old Trafford.

Ten Hag on Eriksen injury

Speaking ahead of Manchester United's FA Cup victory against Fulham on March 19th, Erik ten Hag revealed that Eriksen would return to action during the month of April:

Speaking to MUTV ahead of the match, Ten Hag revealed: "Yes, some point in April he will be back.

"He is doing really well, really good in his rehab. The progress is very good and we have to see how that develops in the coming weeks."

The impending return of Eriksen provides a timely boost for United's midfield, which will be without Brazilian Casemiro for the next three domestic matches following his red card against Southampton prior to the international break.
