"Who is Haaland? When I have Nkunku" - Chelsea fans get excited by Christopher Nkunku goal

RB Leipzig forward Christopher Nkunku is expected to sign for Chelsea in the near future and their fans are already watching him closely.

Chelsea fans are already getting very excited by the prospect of signing Christopher Nkunku, after the RB Leipzig forward scored in the Champions League vs Celtic.

Earlier this week it was reported that Nkunku had already had a medical with the Premier League side, ahead of a potential move next summer.

The forward is said to have already agreed to the move to Stamford Bridge, although it's not yet been confirmed by either of the clubs.

Some reports have claimed that Chelsea are willing to spend big on the France star, and actually pay more than his transfer release clause, in order to make sure he signs.

And, on Wednesday evening, it was clear to everyone why they're so desperate to sign him, as Leipzig took on Celtic in Europe, and he ripped the Scots apart.

Nkunku was unlucky not to open the scoring, with a beautiful chip, when he was narrowly adjudged to be offside, but just minutes later he did break the deadlock.

After a Celtic attack, the Bundesliga side broke at pace and the ball was played through to Nkunku, who took a touch and went around Joe Hart, before slotting home.

Unsurprisingly, Chelsea fans were getting very excited about the prospect of signing the 24-year-old, on their first real watch of him for many no doubt, with one even comparing him to Erling Haaland.

"Who is Haaland? When I have Nkunku," one fan optimistically said on Twitter, comparing the could be Blues man to a player who has three hat-tricks in his first eight Premier League games.

And other fans definitely weren't getting ahead of themselves, "Nkunku has massive pace,he can beat the offside trap and his a good finisher. Chelsea is getting a complete player"

"Nkunku is a special player. Wow," another added.

Another fan poured cold water on every current player in Graham Potter's squad, saying, "Nkunku will be our best player in the penalty box. On the basis that he can Xg cheat, we haven't had someone like that since Pulisic lost his hammies."

"Nkunku is cold. Chelsea have a gem on our hands," said another.

Of course, it might not be lost on some rival fans that the player who Nkunku could have crossed to for a potential tap in, rather than score himself, was former Chelsea striker Timo Werner.

The German moved to west London in 2020, for his release clause price of around £47.5 million, beating off potential competition from Liverpool.

However, despite his reputation, he scored just 10 goals in two league seasons and was sold back to Leipzig this summer for just £25.3 million.

Perhaps the 26-year-old proved why the club allowed him to be sent back this summer, when he could only find Joe Hart after a brilliant backheel from Nkunku.

Wenrer isn't the first striker brought to Stamford Bridge on big money who hasn't worked, although most of them wear the number nine shirt.

Fans will be hoping that their glimpse of Nkunku doesn't built up expectation, only to see him fail, like his current teammate did.
