Fans are drooling over PSV’s Cody Gakpo after yet another impressive performance

Fans are drooling over PSV’s Cody Gakpo after yet another impressive performance

The Dutchman has had a stellar start to the season.

Cody Gakpo is the talk of the town once again after yet another impressive display for PSV.

The Dutch winger was involved for the Eredivisie side in the Europa League against Swiss outfit FC Zurich and produced a stunning performance.

Gakpo played a part in three of the five goals scored by Ruud van Nistelrooy’s team as they tore their opponents apart to record a 5-1 win.

The 23-year-old scored twice and provided an assist for Xavi Simons.

Gakpo’s second goal of the night was arguably the pick of the bunch as he played a neat one-two with Joey Veerman before unleashing a stunning shot into the back of the net, leaving Zurich keeper Yanick Brecher diving in despair.

This performance from Gakpo will come as no surprise as he has been in fine form since the beginning of the 22/23 season.

Gakpo has the same goal contributions as Manchester City superstar Erling Haaland, who has set the Premier League alight with his early performances.

To date, the winger has managed 12 goals and 10 assists in 15 appearances. With such impressive statistics, it is no wonder why fans are drooling over the Dutchman.

One fan said: “Cody Gakpo is so good at football.”

A Manchester United fan tweeted: “Also United have to do everything possible to get Cody Gakpo fr bro. That guy is a monster.”

Another fan added: “Cody Gakpo is cooking. What a player and only 23, United need to go all out for him.”

Plenty of praise for Gakpo from United fans who have been keeping a keen eye on him since the summer transfer window.

The Old Trafford club were linked with a move for the PSV star but a move never materialised as United signed Ajax winger Antony instead.

Fellow Premier League side Southampton tried to lure Gakpo to the St. Mary’s stadium on transfer deadline day but by then, PSV were not entertaining any deals.

It remains to be seen whether PSV will be able to hold on to their star man as his stocks continue to rise.

In addition, he is due to play a key role in the World Cup for Louis van Gaal’s Netherlands side as they hunt for glory on football’s biggest stage.
