Footage from the commentary box during Australia's win over Denmark has been released, it's spine-tingling

SBS has released footage from the commentary booth during Australia's emphatic 1-0 victory over Denmark at the 2022 World Cup – and it makes for pretty special viewing.

Co-commentators David Basheer and Luke Wilkshire certainly rode every wave of emotion as they watched the Socceroos book their sport in the Round of 16 for only the second time in the nation's history.

Mathew Leckie emerged as the hero, scoring a superb solo goal to spark mass celebrations Down Under.

Whether you were watching inside the stadium, at your local pub or from the comfort of your own home, it would have been a wild emotion-charged moment.

And the commentary booth inside Al Janoub Stadium was no different.

SBS play-callers David Basheer and Luke Wilkshire had the best seats in the house.

They were on hand to witness one of the greatest moments in Australian football history when Leckie bobbed and weaved his way past the Danish defence before burying his shot into the bottom corner.

Now Aussie broadcasters of the World Cup SBS have released vision from inside the commentary box showing Wilkshire absolutely losing it while Basheer did his very best to remain calm.

Honestly, it's class.

In the clip posted on social media, Wilkshire can be seen nervously tapping the table as Australia advance up the field.

Meanwhile, Basheer provides the commentary.

"It’s on for Mathew Leckie," he says.

Getting louder and louder, he yells: "MATHEW LECKIE, CUTS BACK INSIDE, ONE WAY THEN THE OTHER AND HE SCORES FOR AUSTRALIA!!! MATHEW LECKIE!!!"

The two men then jump out of their seats and embrace, holding hands while Basheer continues speaking.

Clearly still a bit flustered, the duo then pulled themselves together and began giving some analysis on what had just unfolded before their very eyes.

Well played, gents.

When SBS posted the video on Twitter, fans were loving it and flocked to the comments section to have their say.

One bloke replied: "How did they manage to keep their composure?! Luke looked like he wanted to run onto the pitch."

While another added: "Wilks and Bash holding hands in unconscious celebration is awesome

As a third said: "This is gold! Awesome vision and commentary. Love the passion."
