Cristiano Ronaldo Is 19/1 To Become The Next Manchester United Manager

Cristiano Ronaldo Is 19/1 To Become The Next Manchester United Manager

Cristiano Ronaldo is the seventh favourite to be Manchester United's next manager with Paddy Power.

Cristiano Ronaldo is currently the seventh favourite to become the next Manchester United manager with Paddy Power.

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer's future is in the balance following the 5-0 humiliation at the hands of Liverpool and an array of managers have been touted as potential replacements.

Former Chelsea and Inter boss Antonio Conte is the favourite at 8/11, with Brendan Rodgers (6/1), Zinedine Zidane (9/1), Erik ten Hag (11/1), Mauricio Pochettino (11/1) and Graham Potter (14/1) all following behind as far as the odds go.

But then, incredibly, United's No.7 Ronaldo is in the mix at 19/1 despite still playing for the club.

He's ahead of the likes of experienced managers Ralf Rangnick, Lucien Favre, Max Allegri and Leonardo Jardim - and apparently even better-placed to take the reins than Michael Carrick and Darren Fletcher even though the two are on United's coaching staff.

Ronaldo returned to United in the summer and has hit six goals in nine appearances.

The five-time Ballon d'Or winner has already been criticised for a number of reasons in his second spell.

In the 2-1 Champions League defeat to Young Boys, he was slammed for being vocal on the touchline next to Solskjaer after being taken off.

It was similar to his antics in the Euro 2016 final alongside Fernando Santos when he was forced off injured in the first half.

The 36-year-old hasn't ruled out venturing into the dugout when his playing days are over and remarkably, former Spurs and Aston Villa manager reckons he will be United boss within 18 months.

"I think it's OK that Ronaldo's on the touchline and Ole's going to have to accept it. If he brings him to his football club you've got to know what you're bringing in," Sherwood told Ladbrokes per CaughtOffside last month.

"I would have a bet on him being Manchester United manager in 18 months. Whenever Ronaldo finishes playing I think he will become a manager, it will be an automatic choice."
