Jorge Mendes 'offers Man Utd £85m replacement for Cristiano Ronaldo'

Jorge Mendes 'offers Man Utd £85m replacement for Cristiano Ronaldo'

He's the ideal replacement.

Manchester United have reportedly been offered Atletico Madrid forward Joao Felix as a replacement for Cristiano Ronaldo.

United are searching for another striker after agreeing to terminate Ronaldo's contract at Old Trafford.

The Red Devils cut ties with the five-time Ballon d'Or winner after he attacked several figures at the club in an explosive interview with Piers Morgan last month.

According to The Mirror, Ronaldo's agent Jorge Mendes has now offered Portugal international Felix to United as a potential January replacement.

Felix joined Atletico Madrid from Benfica in a huge £113m move in 2019, which remains the fourth-highest transfer fee in the history of football.

However, the 22-year-old has struggled to live up to that hefty price tag since joining Atleti, managing 33 goals in 129 games for the Spanish club.

He has found his first-team opportunities limited this season under Diego Simeone is now keen to leave, according to the report.

Felix could cost United £85m

It is claimed that Felix's agent Mendes has now offered the player to United but his reported £85m price tag could prove to be too much for the Premier League club.

Both Felix and Ronaldo are currently away on international duty together with Portugal at the World Cup in Qatar.

Ronaldo, 37, is yet to confirm his next move since leaving Manchester United but he is said to have received a highly lucrative offer to play in Saudi Arabia.

According to transfer expert Fabrizio Romano, Ronaldo has received a 'formal proposal' from Al Nassr, worth £173m per season until 2025.

The president of the Saudi Arabia Football Association, Yasser Al-Misehal, is hopeful Ronaldo will move to the Gulf nation.

"We would love to see a player like Cristiano Ronaldo playing in the Saudi league," he told The Athletic.

"It would bring a huge positive feedback and it would be big news for everyone. I’m sure everyone knows the achievements and records of Cristiano Ronaldo, but also as a player who is a great role model."

Al-Misehal added: "I think, 'Why not?'. I’m sure it would be a very expensive deal, of course, but we can see our clubs getting higher revenues in the past couple of years.

"We have already seen some big players who used to play in the Premier League come to the Saudi league."
