Cristiano Ronaldo Wants Manchester United To Sign Former Teammate

Cristiano Ronaldo Wants Manchester United To Sign Former Teammate

Ronaldo wants his new club to make a big move for a forward from one of his former clubs, despite the wealth of talent at Manchester United.

Cristiano Ronaldo is hoping that Manchester United will sign one of his former teammates, although it could cost over £85 million.

Ronaldo surprisingly returned to Old Trafford this summer, officially moving on deadline day after a crazy few days, and he's had instant personal success.

Though results haven't been perfect for Ole Gunnar Solskjaer's team, Ronaldo has won the Premier League Player of the Month award, after three goals in three games in September.

The 36-year-old is one of many attacking talents at United, arguably too many with a need for a defensive midfielder, but the former Juventus man wants his current club to sign a forward from the Turin side.

According to Calciomercato, Ronaldo is a big admirer of Italy forward Federico Chiesa and wants United to make a move for the Euro 2020 winner.

Chiesa is in the middle of a two year loan deal from Fiorentina to Juve but the Old Lady have an obligation to buy the 23-year-old at the end of the loan, as long as certain conditions are met.

It is expected they will make the €50 million move for the Italy star next summer but he has still been heavily linked with a move away from Turin.

In the summer both Chelsea and Liverpool were linked with the player, with the Serie A side reportedly rejecting an £86 million bid from the latter.

Despite Chiesa's brilliance, Calciomercato report that the forward could leave Allianz Stadium 'very soon' and any move would exceed 100 million euros.

The forward, son of former Parma striker Enrico Chiesa, was a real breakout star during the Euros and has been tipped to win the Ballon d'Or in the future.

However, another forward really isn't what United need right now, with Jamie Carragher explaining that much of their issues are down to having a lot of talented individuals but not being a team.

Coaches at the club have reportedly identified Scott McTominay to play in defensive midfield and help the team's issue in that area.

Fans would likely prefer a specific signing to help that problem and with Edinson Cavani, Mason Greenwood, Jadon Sancho, Marcus Rashford, Bruno Fernandes, Anthony Martial and Jesse Lingard all available upfront, Chiesa seems like the last player United need, no matter how much Ronaldo wants him.
