Dani Alves Delivers Glorious Assist On La Liga Return Aged 38

Dani Alves set up Luuk de Jong with a sumptuous cross from the right.

Dani Alves made a stunning return to La Liga after delivering an outrageous cross for Barcelona's opener against Granada this evening.

The Brazilian legend has headed back to the Blaugrana for a second spell after terminating his contract with Sao Paulo and made the first appearance of his second stint in the Copa Del Rey on Thursday night.

He was handed a second consecutive start tonight and proved he's still got tremendous quality from right-back at the ripe old age of 38.

Just before the hour mark in the away fixture, Alves whipped in a sensational delivery from deep for Luuk de Jong to head home.

It was vintage Alves well and truly rolling back the years in Barca colours.

The likes of Trent Alexander-Arnold and Joao Cancelo have been incredible in recent years with their attacking contributions from right-back but we can't forget that it was Alves who redefined what it means to play in that position.

Alves agreed a return to Barca in November, signing a short-term contract until the end of the season.

He was not able to make his debut until the New Year and already looks to be making a huge impact playing under former teammate Xavi Hernandez.

In his first day back at the club, Alves oozed passion with a speech that earned him applause from his peers.

He then showed just how much he loves the club by stepping over the Barca crest during an open training session at the Nou Camp.

His respectful actions proved influential as 20-year-old youngster Nico Gonzalez followed suit.

In his first stint with the Catalan giants, Alves made 391 appearances over an eight-year period and won an incredible 23 trophies, including six La Liga titles and three Champions Leagues.

He won gold with Brazil at the Olympics last summer and is still hopeful of playing for the Selecao at the World Cup in Qatar later this year.
