Ex-Premier League player and Tottenham fan wants the Spurs supporter who kicked Aaron Ramsdale to be arrested

Darren Ambrose, a Spurs supporter himself, has called for the Tottenham fan who kicked Aaron Ramsdale to be arrested and banned from attending football matches for the rest of his life.

There was disgraceful scenes at full-time during the North London derby when a supporter hopped onto the advertisement hoarding and kicked Aaron Ramsdale while the Arsenal goalkeeper was attempting to retrieve his water bottle from behind the goal.

The fan's inexcusable actions came after Antonio Conte's side were battered 2-0 by the Gunners, a defeat which helped their rivals move eight points clear at the top of the table.

The ugly incident marred an otherwise excellent game of football and discussions have already begun about what action the FA should take next.

But Ambrose, probably like many others, believes this should be escalated to a police matter.

"He kicked him in the back, it's disgraceful, it's unforgivable," Ambrose said on talkSPORT after the game.

"Look, I'm a Spurs supporter, I'm hurting like everyone else, but that guy there should be arrested and banned for life. He's just assaulted Aaron Ramsdale."

When talkSPORT posted the clip on YouTube, fans were quick to chime in, many of whom criticising the level of stewarding.

One person commented: "The security should probably be held accountable for allowing that to happen."

As one fan joked: "Banned for life from watching Spurs wouldn't be punishment."

While another quipped: "Best strike Ramsdale had to deal with all game..."

Ramsdale was even quizzed by Sky Sports after the game, with Geoff Shreeves asking him how it all unfolded.

The 24-year-old responded: "A fan tried to jump over and give me a little punch in the back. Its a shame because its just a game of football at the end of the day.

"Thankfully nothing too bad happened."

The FA has since come out and released a statement of their own.

"We strongly condemn the incident involving a spectator that followed today's Premier League fixture between Tottenham Hotspur and Arsenal," the sport's governing body said.

"This is wholly unacceptable behaviour and we will work together with the police, the relevant authorities and the clubs to ensure the appropriate action is taken."
