David Moyes has angered West Ham United fans after speaking to Steven Bartlett for a recent episode of 'The Diary Of A CEO'.

The Hammers are currently 18th in the Premier League, with a 1-0 defeat to Wolverhampton Wanderers on Saturday dropping them into the relegation zone.

Pressure is continuing to mount on Moyes, who guided West Ham to a seventh-place finish and Europa League semi-final last term.

West Ham spent over £160 million on transfers over the summer, bringing the likes of Lucas Paqueta, Gianluca Scamacca and Nayef Aguerd to the London Stadium for hefty fees.

None of their new signings have fully settled in and the retirement of former club captain Mark Noble over the summer has left a huge hole in the dressing room.

Supporters are starting to turn on Moyes, with that vitriol only getting worse on Monday after seeing the 59-year-old's podcast appearance.

Moyes spoke at length about the club's current struggles while admitting he decided to 'change it' over the summer.

"I felt as if I nearly had to break [the team] up a little bit, because I'd seen signs [that West Ham were starting to regress]. My experience, my longevity was telling me; if I don't do this now I'm going to feel I'm going to be caught out."

West Ham came incredibly close to pipping Moyes' former club Manchester United to sixth last term.

United lost 1-0 on the final day to Crystal Palace, meaning West Ham only had to beat Brighton. They ended up losing the game 3-1 to confirm Europa Conference League football this season.

Moyes continued: "We probably didn't do as well from January onwards last year. We had some brilliant nights, getting to the semi final of European football… we were 10 minutes away from finishing sixth above Manchester United, so the margins were incredibly small.

"With the age I am now, I don't really give a s**t. I'm not going to get many more goes at this. So if I don't make a go of it and I don't really do what I think's right and what I want to do, then I'll regret it."

Some of the reaction on social media was positive given how open and honest Moyes was, although those who support his current club weren't pleased.

One fan said: "The timing of this is very strange."

Another put: "A tipping point for West Ham fans."

Someone tweeted: "We're not far from the bottom of the league and my guy's doing the podcast circuit."

While a fourth added: "We've got bigger things to worry about right now."

West Ham return to action against Everton in a huge relegation clash on Saturday afternoon. The Toffees are currently level on points with West Ham, as are basement side Southampton on 15.
