Besiktas manager has ripped into Dele Alli a week after taking the job, it's not going well for him in Turkey

Besiktas manager Senol Gunes has laid into Dele Alli for performing "below expectations" in his loan spell.

After falling out of favour at Spurs, Alli joined Everton in January 2022 on a free transfer that could become a £40 million deal if certain clauses were met.

However, Alli's miserable time continued and he started just one game for the Toffees and failed to find the net.

In a bid to get his career back on track, the MK Dons youth product was sent on loan to Turkey, with Besiktas also having the option purchase him permanently.

There was a real buzz around the transfer, with Besiktas fans mobbing him at the airport.

He then had a promising debut and scored his first goal for the club in his second appearance.

But of late he doesn't appear to have made much of an impression on Gunes, who was only appointed manager last week.

"I couldn't affect the players [yet], now I can easily get through to them, but we haven't got through to Dele Alli yet," Gunes said as per the Daily Mail.

"Let's not discuss Dele Alli as a player, but he is below expectations in terms of efficiency."

Previous manager Valerian Ismael defended and said he had "full trust in him", but the well-travelled Gunes has a very different tune.

In Gunes' first game at the helm, Alli started the 5-2 win over Umraniyespor but lasted just 45 minutes before being hooked at half-time.

Besiktas' next game is against rivals Galatasaray, who are just one point behind them in the Super Lig, on Saturday 5 November.

Alli, who has missed two games through a muscle injury has just the one goal and zero assists in his seven league fixtures.

Besiktas are able to buy him for £6 million but it remains to be seen if they will do given recent comments from their new boss.
