Diogo Jota has revealed that a quote about ketchup by Cristiano Ronaldo, from 2010, inspired the end of his goal drought on Monday night.
It's one of those weird things that whenever a football manager goes to a new club it seems like they have to ban players from eating ketchup and drinking coke.
One wonders which managers are even allowing it considering the amount of times they end up getting banned soon after, and Vincent Kompany had to go even further at Burnley, by banning cake!

Not that we can imagine Ronaldo partaking in any of those practices in his career, in fact he doesn't even like his own son drinking fizzy drinks.

Not only that, the Al Nassr forward once famously removed a bottle of coke during an interview, when the company were sponsoring Euro 2020.
However, it seems that he's a fan of ketchup, or at very least he knows how difficult it is to get the red sauce out of the bottle, based on his previous comments.

In 2010, he went on a 16 month spell without scoring for Portugal, leading to the five time Ballon d'Or winner to say, "Goals, as a football legend once told me, are like ketchup.
"Sometimes as much as you try, they don’t come out, and when they come, many come all at same time."
And it seems like those words of wisdom have helped Jota, who ended his own goal drought for Liverpool on Monday, when he scored twice in the destruction of Leeds United.
After scoring for the first time in over a year for his club, a period disrupted by injury, the former Wolves star told Sky Sports, "That's one of the sentences Ronaldo said and it really stuck in my mind all these years.

"I think football is unpredictable, and these are the things we like in this football game. Things can change very quick."
It's probably the first time in a while that citing Ronaldo as your inspiration would be acceptable for a Liverpool star, considering the forward's connection with Manchester United.
That connection certainly isn't that strong, after his second spell at Old Trafford ended in November last year, following his controversial interview.
