Video Detailing 'The Finer Things' In Donny Van De Beek's Game Goes Viral After Man Utd Fans Question His Ability

Van de Beek has been criticised in recent weeks.

A video detailing 'the finer things' in Donny van de Beek's game has gone viral after a mixed pre-season for Manchester United.

The 25-year-old joined United from Ajax in 2020 and fans were disappointed with his lack of game time under Ole Gunnar Solskjaer and Ralf Rangnick.

It saw him spend the second half of last season on loan at Everton and he started just five times at the Toffees narrowly avoided relegation.

United appointed Erik ten Hag, who worked with van de Beek at Ajax, as manager towards the end of the campaign and many hoped he'd kick on under a familiar face.

Things don't always go to plan and van de Beek once again found himself on the bench for most of pre-season. When he did come on, some argued he has regressed from the midfielder that was once coveted by the likes of Real Madrid.

@iskaholic offered another look at it however and it pinpoints exactly what van de Beek did in Sunday's 1-1 draw with Rayo Vallecano.

Van de Beek looked composed under pressure and found ways to bypass the relentless Vallecano press.

Going forward, he found Cristiano Ronaldo with a lovely pass and the five-time Ballon d'Or winner should've at least hit the target.

He was most efficient with the ball too, always looking to make a one touch pass to keep the tempo up.

Fans have reacted to the footage and they still believe van de Beek can be an important player at Old Trafford.

One person said: "It’s the smaller finer details people won’t see, it’ll be more evident soon."

A second tweeted: "I saw so many people hating on Donny and I can't understand why."

Someone put: "I don’t see how anyone can watch this and not appreciate what he does."

While a fourth added: "Finally some appreciation. This guy is a baller."

Ten Hag said van de Beek will have to 'prove himself' like any other player last month.

He explained: "It's the same for every player, he has to do it by himself. Me as a manager and the coaching staff around him can do everything to set the right conditions so he can perform but in the end the player has to do it by himself.

"They have to take responsibility for their performance. Donny has the capability. I have seen it but he has to prove himself."
