Edinson Cavani’s Brutal Response To Fans After Manchester United Season Ended In Disappointing Defeat

Edinson Cavani’s Brutal Response To Fans After Manchester United Season Ended In Disappointing Defeat

Edinson Cavani reacted angrily to fans outside the stadium after his side lost their final game of the season

Manchester United striker Edinson Cavani was caught swearing at fans on camera after his side’s defeat by Crystal Palace at Selhurst Park.

Ralf Rangnick’s dismal time in charge of United ended with a defeat as a goal from Wilfried Zaha inflicted a 1-0 defeat on a much changed United side.

Youngster Hannibal Mejbri was handed a start after his fiery cameo at Anfield last month earned him plaudits from fans and pundits.

Star man Cristiano Ronaldo was not involved, and his presence was dearly missed as United haven’t been able to win a single game this season without the Portuguese.

Despite having most of the ball possession and more attempts on goal, United couldn’t find any clinical edge over their hosts in a game that truly reflected the club’s disappointing season.

Fortunately for Rangnick side, they got help from Brighton, who beat West Ham 3-1 to ensure that United will play in the Europa League next season instead of the Europa Conference League.

After the match, fans waited outside as the United team boarded their team coach, a disgruntled Cavani walked past the fans and having been taunted by them, the Uruguayan reacted with sticking his middle finger up at them.

He did it again as he stepped onto the coach.

It was unclear which club’s fans were taunting Cavani or what the exact words were but it not something you expect to see from a professional player with the experience that the striker has.

The 35-year-old has endured a torrid season at the club, making only 15 appearances in the league due to constant fitness issues. Only two goals to his name in the campaign, a far cry from the 17 he scored during his first season with the club.

With his contract due to expire very soon, Cavani is expected to leave the club, and his career at United looks to have had a bitter ending.

Looking forward, United fans will be excited to see what new manager Erik ten Hag can do with this squad, a squad that will need a major clear out in the upcoming transfer window. One thing can be sure, it surely can’t get any worse than the season just gone.
