Emerson Royal tried and failed to pull of an audacious 'no-look pass' in the latter stages of Spurs' Champions League clash against Sporting CP – and Antonio Conte didn't look too pleased on the touchline.
The 23-year-old full-back has had a month to forget. At the start of October, he was heavily criticised after picking up a red card for a challenge on Gabriel Martinelli in the North London derby.
Arsenal went on to win the game 3-1 and Royal was criticised for a lack of composure in such a crucial game.
Three weeks later and Royal didn't exactly have the best of games against Portuguese outfit Sporting CP on Wednesday night, with this attempted 'no-look pass' to Bryan Gil being one of the standout moments.
As you can see in the footage below, Spurs looked to be in a dangerous position when Royal found himself in space down the right hand side.
With the score at 1-1 after a late equaliser from Rodrigo Bentancur, Antonio Conte's side were pushing for a winner when the former Barcelona full-back unintentionally knocked it out of play.
What was he thinking?
Emerson trying a No look pass in the 86th minute of a must win game when it’s 1-1 is fucking embarrassing pic.twitter.com/j7mvOwQ8gY— Shehryar 🇵🇰 (@NotShehryarThfc) October 26, 2022
Here's how social media reacted to the incident.
One fan said: "You see Emerson’s no look pass that went out for a goal kick? My head wasn’t even hot at that point, it was sent in orbit," while another commented: "That Emerson no look has killed me LOOOOOOOL."
A third wrote: "If last night achieved one thing, it deflected the attention off Emerson’s no-look pass.
Things got even more frustrating for Spurs and their fans when Antonio Conte was sent off after Spurs had a last-gasp Harry Kane winner ruled out for offside after a lengthy VAR check.
The hosts were 1-0 down in the first half when former academy player Marcus Edwards knocked it past Hugo Lloris from distance.
Rodrigo Bentancur equalised and Spurs looked like they had bagged a dramatic winner at the death when Emerson Royal's header across goal deflected into the path of Kane, who tapped in from close range.
But eventually, the new semi-automated offside technology ruled that Kane was fractionally offside, so the goal was chalked off.
