Erik ten Hag could offload at least 13 Manchester United players in a major summer overhaul at the club.

United got rid of 10 players, including Jesse Lingard, Edinson Cavani and Paul Pogba, in a huge summer rebuild after the club's worst ever season.

Fortunes have improved under Ten Hag, who has guided United to a first trophy since 2017 and could finish with a second piece of silverware and Champions League qualification if they finish the season strong.

But the reconstruction of the squad will continue, with a slew of exits expected at Old Trafford according to the Manchester Evening News.

For starters, five players are in line to be released upon the expiration of their contracts on June 30.

Forgotten man Phil Jones will finally end his 12-year stint at United after 13 appearances in the last four seasons, while Axel Tuanzebe is also set to move on.

Ethan Galbraith, who is on loan at Salford City in League Two, has been told he will not be staying, along with Ondrej Mastny and Charlie Wellens.

Reserve goalkeeper Nathan Bishop is also believed to be surplus to requirements, while Tom Heaton's deal is due to expire but the club have the option to extend it for a further year.

Staying with those between the sticks, David de Gea is closing in on a new deal but Dean Henderson's first-team prospects look doubtful when he returns from a loan at Nottingham Forest.

Anthony Martial, Anthony Elanga and Donny van de Beek, Brandon Williams and Alex Telles are the group of players likely to seal permanent switches and bring in transfer fees for United to reinvest in the squad.

In central defence, Eric Bailly, currently on loan at Marseille, and club captain Harry Maguire appear nailed on to depart.

The club could even be tempted by offers for Aaron Wan-Bissaka despite improved performances at right-back in recent times.

United are hopeful of raising £100 million through various player sales and will use it to strengthen the squad, with a new striker a priority.

The Red Devils have already decided against signing Wout Weghorst permanently after he failed to score a single Premier League goal in his loan spell.
