Erik ten Hag says he can't go into Manchester after being asked what he likes about the city

The Manchester United manager was in good spirits in his press conference.

Manchester United manager Erik ten Hag 'kept it real' after a fan asked how he's finding living in Manchester.

On Wednesday afternoon, during a special press conference with members of United Supporters' Clubs from all over the world, one fan was keen to find out Ten Hag's thoughts on the city.

The 52-year-old has lived in the north west for seven months after arriving from Ajax this summer, but he hasn't had a chance to explore life away from Carrington just yet.

As you can see in the footage below, the supporter asked: "How are you finding living in Manchester, what do you like most about the city and what do you like to do to relax away from the games?"

Ten Hag was quick to bring up the media in his answer.

"I can never go into the city because you don't give me rest!" the Dutch manager laughed. "The media... always click clack, taking pictures! They don't give me the opportunity to be there. I'm only at Carrington training ground."

Plenty of fans commented on the clip. One said: "It's a shame the man can’t enjoy his private time," while another wrote: "This is the first time I've seen the boss smile like this."

A third said: "He really enjoyed that question."

Ten Hag was also asked about his plans for their Carabao Cup clash against Aston Villa on Thursday.

And those who attended this week's press conference also got a chance to ask the United boss about his thoughts on the club's academy system, the squad's upcoming winter training camp in Spain and more.

In total, fans from 13 branches met with Ten Hag inside the Jimmy Murphy Centre at Carrington.

The Supporters’ Clubs included Atlanta, Bedfordshire, Fleetwood, High Peak, Hyderabad, Kerala, Leicestershire, Middleton, MUDSA, Mumbai, Rainbow Devils, Scandinavia and Taiwan.

Last month, Manchester City manager Pep Guardiola spoke about the city in one of his press conferences.

The Spaniard joked that captain Ilkay Gundogan would not play another minute for the rest of the 2022/23 campaign following his wife's comments about food in Manchester.

Guardiola, who co-owns a Tapas restaurant in the city, didn't take her opinion to heart.

"Gundo is not going to play one more minute for the rest of the season," he laughed. "I'm going to invite her and [Ilkay] Gundogan to TAST [the Tapas bar] and of course, they are going to eat properly."
