Erling Haaland's reaction to Kevin De Bruyne's stunning goal vs RB Leipzig emerges, fans are thinking only one thing

"[He's thinking] 'Should've been me.'" Erling Haaland watched on from the bench when Kevin De Bruyne scored for Man City against RB Leipzig.

Erling Haaland’s reaction to Kevin De Bruyne’s sensational strike against RB Leipzig in the Champions League on Tuesday evening has made the rounds on social media.

The City striker ruthlessly tore Leipzig apart in his side’s second-leg round-of-16 clash, with Haaland scoring an incredible five times in their 7-0 demolition.

Haaland completed a sensational first-half hat-trick at the Etihad before adding a further two to his name early in the second half.

However, the 22-year-old Norway international was denied a double hat-trick against Leipzig after City manager Pep Guardiola replaced him with Julian Alvarez.

City playmaker De Bruyne, who was criticised by Guardiola ahead of the clash, silenced his harshest critics this season with a brilliant performance against Leipzig.

The 31-year-old Belgian midfielder capped off his display with a stunning strike from outside of the box to beat Janis Blaswich and score City’s seventh of the match.

Footage has now emerged of Haaland’s ice-cold reaction to De Bruyne’s strike, with fans believing that the Norwegian striker felt it ‘should’ve been me.’

“[He’s thinking] ‘Should’ve been me,’” one fan said in response to the footage.

Another added: “He wanted to score [his] sixth goal.”

Speaking after City’s resounding win, Guardiola said: “Always we have scored goals here. We scored four goals against Real Madrid. We scored six goals against Monaco. We scored four goals against Tottenham here.

“The problem is not that we do not score goals. The problem is that we conceded stupid goals in the past. We gift them. Most of the time, we gift them.

“In this competition, one of the reasons is the build-up, but to play the four central defenders in this way does not mean you are a defensive team. It is difficult for people to understand.

“Nathan [Ake] is so focused for 90 minutes, so stable here [in the head]. Ruben [Dias], Manu [Akanji], they are so stable here. John [Stones] as well.

“That is what we need in this competition because the chances they had today, we gave them.

“The process with Edi [Ederson], we have to be careful. We have to do it but we have to be careful.

“Because since I arrived, with Sergi [Aguero], with Gabi [Jesus], always we scored a lot of goals.”
