Erling Haaland hilariously lost his head after Julian Alvarez equalised for Man City against Liverpool

Erling Haaland couldn't contain his excitement.

Manchester City star Erling Haaland produced a hilarious reaction to Julian Alvarez's brilliant equalising goal against Liverpool.

Haaland is watching the crunch Premier League fixture from the stands of the Etihad, having failed to recover in time to play in the match.

He watched his side go behind when Mohamed Salah opened the scoring in the 17th minute after he fired home a left-footed strike into the back of the net.

But the hosts hit back through Alvarez, who replaced Haaland in the starting XI, as he completed a tidy move to make it 1-1 in the 27th minute.

Riyad Mahrez played in Ilkay Gundogan who picked out Jack Grealish, who slid a great ball into the box, with the Argentine forward scoring.

Haaland couldn't contain his excitement as he got out of his seat and celebrated with a member of his entourage in comical scenes.

Speaking before kick-off, Rio Ferdinand claimed that Liverpool will have been celebrating Haaland's absence in the team.

"There’s no doubt in my mind that in that dressing room they’ll be sitting in there thinking 'right, that’ll do'," he said on BT Sport. "The reaction to that would have been huge for them, and they would have been delighted."

Pep Guardiola said the Norwegian is feeling 'much better', but was not fit enough to play a part against Jurgen Klopp's team.

"He’s much, much better, but not for today. He didn’t feel good, no risk."

The 22-year-old has scored a staggering 42 goals in all competitions this season, including an impressive 28 goals in the Premier League.

But Man City will have to get a result against Liverpool without their star forward.

It's 1-1 at the break.
