Nottinghamshire FA have launched an official investigation into allegations a player inserted a finger, or multiple fingers, into an opponent's anus during a Sunday League match.
The supposed incident happened on 8 January, but a message from the FA's discipline team about it has now been leaked, providing more details on exactly what unfolded.
In the leaked messages, there are requests for a witness statement to be released to the coaches, players and fans who were in attendance at the match.

According to Nottinghamshire Live, the message reads: "It has been reported to us that during a match between [home team] and [away team], a player allegedly inserted his finger(s) into an opposition player’s anus."
Nottinghamshire FA have confirmed they are aware of the incident, subsequently launching an investigation, although local Nottinghamshire Police admit they were unaware of it all.

Incidents of sexual assault on the football pitch have been reported before, with the FA handing out lengthy match bans.

Last year, a non-League footballer was banned for nine matches after being charged with grabbing the testicles of two opposition players in a match.
Connor Jackson was issued with the ban following a North West Counties League match between his team Longridge Town and Northwich Victoria.
While Jackson denied breaching FA Rule E3: Improper Conduct, the lengthy match ban still stood.

A similar incident happened in rugby union, after England's Joe Marler was sent off the field and handed a 10-week ban for grabbing Wales captain Alun Wyn Jones’ testicles during the Six Nations tournament in 2020.
Marler was found guilty of 'grabbing, twisting or squeezing' Jones' genitals and was initially banned for 12 weeks.
However, due to his 'good character' and 'remorse', three weeks were knocked off the ban, but an extra week was then added because of Marler's poor disciplinarily record.
Marler denied that he had 'grabbed, twisted or squeezed' Jones' testicles, but did accept that he committed an act of foul play.

But the panel at his hearing disagreed, so handed him with the lengthy match ban.
