#SaveProClubs has trended on Twitter after EA Sports confirmed cross-play will not apply to the popular game-mode in FIFA 23.
On Wednesday, EA dropped the official reveal trailer for FIFA 23, which will be the final edition under its current iteration before it becomes 'EA Sports FC' from then on.
EA said FIFA 23 will feature "the most advanced gameplay" and "deepest modes" in the franchise's history and detailed a series of changes and improvements across the game.

There is also huge excitement over PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S Stadia, and PC versions of FIFA 23 being cross-play compatible, as well as the same applying to PlayStation 4 and Xbox One .
However, it is only included in 1v1 modes and social media has been awash with outrage over what many feel is an abandoning of Pro Clubs following the release of the annual pitch notes.
Twitter user @TheVFL_ sent a lengthy statement to EA demanding an explanation and finished the message with the #SaveProClubs hashtag.
And that prompted a slew of posts and replies in the same vein, stressing mass disappointment over a perceived overlooking of a mode that has such a strong community and helps bring about social interaction:
The big news for this year's game is that gamers can now play with women's club sides. Major international teams have been included since FIFA 16 but the addition of the Barclays Women’s Super League in England and France's Division 1 Arkema is a game-changer.

Similarly, players will also be able to play out both the men's and women's World Cups - Qatar this year and Australia and New Zealand next year - in the same game, with more details on that coming in due course.
