FIFA Set To Rival EA Sports With Their Own Football Game

Football fans rejoice, FIFA games aren't coming to an end, they'll just actually be made by FIFA and not EA Sports, according to the organisation's president.

Earlier this week it was confirmed that, from 2023, EA Sports would no longer be making games in the FIFA franchise, having first brought out FIFA International Soccer in 1993.

EA and FIFA's partnership ending after 30 years won't be the end of games from the games developer, as they'll begin making EA Sports FC, after this year's edition of FIFA, FIFA 23, has come out.

But the new named game won't be the only football video game on the market, with FIFA president Gianni Infantino confirming that they'll be creating their own football game.

"I can assure you that the only authentic, real game that has the FIFA name will be the best one available for gamers and football fans," Infantino said in a statement.

"The FIFA name is the only global, original title. FIFA 23, FIFA 24, FIFA 25 and FIFA 26, and so on - the constant is the FIFA name and it will remain forever and remain THE BEST."

The sports governing body are already said to be in conversation with studios and publishers over their new projects, in the post EA world.

FIFA's statement also said that 'non exclusive licenses' will allow for more choice in video games in the build up to this winter's World Cup, which suggests the first non EA game could come later this year, not long after FIFA 23 is released.

There was also the addition of a note about a game for the Women's World Cup next summer, which is set to be held in Australia and New Zealand.

"The interactive gaming and esports sector is on a path of unrivalled growth and diversification," Infantino's statement continued.

"FIFA’s strategy is to ensure we can make the most of all future options and ensure a wide range of products and opportunities for gamers, fans, member associations and partners."

The change in game developer isn't the only controversy surrounding FIFA games recently, with Bruno Fernandes somehow getting a team of the year card.

Whilst the Manchester United playmaker certainly hasn't been the worst player from the struggling team, there's plenty of candidates for that accolade, the Portugal star has hardly covered himself in glory this season.

Maybe FIFA's own version of the game will include some better decision making, then again this is FIFA...
