Memphis Depay was left disgusted by a journalist who asked if he regretted joining Barcelona this summer.

The 27-year-old arrived on a free transfer from Lyon and is currently the club's star forward following Lionel Messi and Antoine Griezmann's departure.

Barcelona are currently ninth in La Liga and bottom of their Champions League group, which has seen ESPN ask if Memphis if he regrets leaving.

He replied: "How could you ask that?"

"It's Barcelona. I don't think you understand how big this club is and what it means for a player if you move to a club like this. I would never regret it.

Depay has started the season in fine individual form, scoring three times and providing one assist in seven appearances.

Pressure continues to mount on manager Ronald Koeman and Depay has jumped to his defence.

"Despite results, I'm really happy at the club," he continued. "It's been a difficult time [for the team]. I don't want to talk about that much, but people are acting like the season is already over.

"There are so many games to play. Everything is still open. But as a player you feel responsible and you take responsibility. You care. Every player takes responsibility at Barca.

"That's normal for a club like Barcelona."

President Joan Laporta is still publicly backing Koeman and recently gave him a vote of confidence.

"Koeman will continue as the Barca coach," Laporta said before Saturday's 2-0 defeat to Atletico Madrid.

"We understand that he deserves a bit of margin for many reasons: He's a Barca fan and legend for fans all over the world. He'll stay on and deserves a margin of confidence.

"He loves Barca and decided to come here in a really tough time both institutionally and on a sporting front.

"After talking to him, I can see he's got faith in the team... We spoke and it's not true that we've got a tense relationship - it's good and honest.

"I think we both think the same, to turn things around."

As well as Memphis, Barcelona have also signed Sergio Aguero but he's yet to make his debut due to injury.

Ousmane Dembele is also currently out, alongside Martin Braithwaite.
