Lionel Messi Almost Produced His Own 'Hand Of Goal' Goal Against Osasuna

Lionel Messi almost pulled off a 'hand of God' goal for Barcelona against Osasuna on Sunday, the same week that fellow Argentine footballing legend Diego Maradona passed away.

Messi feinted his hand towards the ball as it crossed the line for Martin Braithwaite's opener, almost mirroring the famous goal scored by Maradona to knock England out of the 1986 World Cup.

Perhaps in remembrance of the well-known moment, he thought about doing the same, but Messi appears to have thought better of it at the last moment.

Maradona died from a heart attack this week, and mourners flocked to the Argentinian capital for his wake on Thursday as the world remembered the great player.

There was a touching tribute to Maradona at the Nou Camp before the match, with a minute's silence, his famous no. 10 shirt, and the big screen used to remember the icon.

Messi then reignited memories of one of his countryman's most controversial moments with his cheeky attempt.

The goal was bundled over the line by Martin Braithwaite, who pounced on the rebound after Philippe Coutinho had his close range shot saved.

Antoine Griezmann doubled their lead before half time.
