Alberto Moreno screamed "you'll never walk alone" on the pitch, then taunted Manchester United fans in the dressing room, after Villarreal's Europa League victory on Wednesday.
The former Liverpool left-back had his winners' medal around his neck after Villarreal's penalty shootout triumph and - recording his reaction on Instagram - he shouted "Vamos! [Go!] You'll never walk alone! You'll never walk alone!"
As if it wasn't enough salt in Man United's wounds to hear the anthem of their great rivals, the 28-year-old Spain international had more to say in the changing room.
Reacting to incoming congratulatory messages from his former club, Moreno said to camera: "For all the fans of Liverpool, vamos!
"Man United? Get out! Get out, Man United, get out... You'll never walk alone. Siempre [forever] Liverpool," he added, tapping his chest.
Moreno, who played 141 games for Liverpool across five seasons before joining Villarreal in 2019, was understandably elated after coming on as a substitute before extra time, then converting in the shootout, as Unai Emery's team defeated the Premier League side.
The full-back was playing in his third Europa League final, having won with Sevilla in 2014 and lost with Liverpool in 2016. However this one clearly meant a lot as it was Villarreal's first major honour and against the great rivals of his former club.
Moreno's 2020-21 season was interrupted by a cruciate ligament injury to his left knee which kept him out for over six months.
However it had a happy ending for him, as his namesake Gerard Moreno gave Villarreal the lead in Gdasnk and - despite Edinson Cavani's second-half equaliser - the Spanish side triumphed in a remarkable, 22-penalty shootout.
