Manchester City fans are furious with left-back Benjamin Mendy after his performance in this evening's 1-0 defeat to Tottenham Hotspur.

Son Heung-min's strike in the 55th minute sealed opening day victory for new manager Nuno Espirito Santo.

It came from a swift counter attack down the left and City fans are furious with Mendy, who has become a 'weak link' at the back for Pep Guardiola's side.

He didn't offer much going forward either and was substituted for Oleksandr Zinchenko late in the game.

Mendy arrived in a £50 million deal from Monaco in 2017 and has been ravaged by injury.

He's rarely put together a string of starts and fans think this performance could've ended his City career.

City started the game with Ferran Torres up front and he didn't manage to put his stamp on the game.

Spurs, meanwhile, had no Harry Kane in their squad as he's been deemed not yet match fit.

Kane has been linked with a huge money move to City this summer but it's looking more and more unlikely with each passing day.
