Paul Scholes Dismantles Man United's Win Over Atalanta, Makes Bold Jurgen Klopp Claim

Despite tonight's 3-2 win, Paul Scholes wasn't happy with what he saw from United at Old Trafford.

Paul Scholes has described how Jurgen Klopp will have been watching Manchester United's first-half display against Atalanta with glee this evening.

The hosts went 2-0 down at Old Trafford within the first half-hour, after yet more calamitous defending. A spirited second-half comeback did see United eventually prevail, thanks to goals from Marcus Rashford, Harry Maguire and - as ever - Cristiano Ronaldo.

And yet, for BT Sport pundit Scholes, who was watching on in the studio, the damage was already done in the first half.

According to the legendary midfielder, the defending on display in the first 45 minutes is very much a cause for concern heading into the club's next fixture.

With the Red Devils set to play Liverpool next weekend, Scholes claims that Klopp will be relishing the opportunity to face off against his great local rivals.

"Go and do that against Liverpool on Sunday, see what happens," Scholes asserted.

"I Imagine Jurgen Klopp watching that at home, rubbing his hands together."

Plenty of fans agreed with the two-time Champions League winner, arguing that tonight's crucial result merely papers over the cracks.

Next up for United is the aforementioned trip to Anfield, where Ole Gunnar Solskjaer's men will have an exceptionally difficult task on their hands.

The Reds won a close-fought contest of their own against Atletico Madrid on Tuesday night, so neither side has enjoyed the easiest of preparations ahead of the North-West derby.
