Spurs forward couldn't contain his emotions.

Son Heung-min was in tears on the pitch after Tottenham lost the Carabao Cup final 1-0 to Manchester City on Sunday.

Pep Guardiola's side had dominated the game but Spurs held out and were just 10 minutes from extra time when Aymeric Laporte rose to head in a Kevin De Bruyne's free-kick. That spelled heartbreak for Tottenham - and Son in particular.

The usually cheerful South Korea forward crouched down on his knees and couldn't stop crying after the full-time whistle blew.

It was understandably an emotional occasion with 8,000 fans at Wembley and Spurs having survived wave after wave of City attack only to be denied at the end.

The 28-year-old was consoled by De Bruyne - whose cross led to the goal - post-match. But he was clearly taking the result to heart.

Son was almost in tears after Spurs' 3-1 defeat to Manchester United earlier in the month, a game which saw the hosts give up a 1-0 lead and lose vital points in the race for the top-four spots.

It's clear that the Spurs forward whose form - along with that of Harry Kane - has been a rare bright spot for his side this season, cares deeply about the success of the club.

Plenty of Spurs supporters will have been feeling empathy with Son, as Tottenham's search for a first major trophy since 2008 goes on.
