What Bruno Fernandes Did After Being Substituted Vs Club Brugge Delighted Manchester United Staff

Bruno Fernandes refused to return to the dressing room after being substituted for Manchester United last night - instead watching the rest of their win vs Club Brugge.

Fernandes ran the show last night as United defeated Brugge 5-0 in the Europa League.

The 25-year-old only played 20 minutes of the second half before being replaced by Jesse Lingard.

United boss Ole Gunnar Solskjaer explained that Fernandes refused to head down the tunnel as he wanted to watch the end of game.

"When I took him off, obviously he didn't want to come off," Solskjaer stated per Manchester Evening News.

"That's one thing. He just loves football. He's got so much enthusiasm and smile about him. He just wants to be out there, wants to better.

"I tried to send him in because it's cold. 'No, I want to watch.' He just loves football. He'll probably know everything about football. He's one of these old school boys and football is everything for him.

"He's been a big, big boost for us."

The midfielder is already a hit with the Old Trafford faithful and has made an instant impact.

Fernandes opened the scoring with a penalty last night, after Simon Deli's bizarre handball.

He then had a big hand in Odion Ighalo's first United goal as well as Scott McTominay's drive.

McTominay was also replaced in the game but he went straight down the tunnel in contrast to Fernandes.

Fred added two goals late in the second half to ensure a comfortable passage to the Europa League last 16, in which United will take on Austrian outfit LASK.

"That's Man United as the fans want to see," Solskjaer told reporters following last night's win.

"There's loads of movements, combinations, one or two-touch, runs into the box, attempts. We gave them two opportunities early on but I still think we have to be that type of team.

"Now we've had I don't know how many clean sheets, six in the last seven. That's not bad. That's a foundation to build from like the Bruces and Pallisters and Schmeichels."
