Arsenal star Folarin Balogun trains separately from the squad as Italian club ready bid

Arsenal star Folarin Balogun trains separately from the squad as Italian club ready bid

Balogun's future is in doubt.

Arsenal starlet Folarin Balogun trained away from the rest of the squad amid speculation over a summer transfer, according to a new report.

Balogun has returned to the Emirates Stadium following a successful loan spell at Ligue 1 side Reims, where he scored 21 league goals.

He joined up with Arsenal's squad for their pre-season tour of the United States, making substitute appearances in two of their opening three friendlies.

But he did not feature at all against Manchester United on Saturday, and clubs are interested in making official offers for the striker this summer.

And one of those clubs is believed to be Champions League finalists Inter Milan, with reports in Italy claiming that they will submit a loan offer with a mandatory buy option worth €35 million.

Balogun training away from Arsenal squad

According to The Athletic, Balogun trained away from the rest of the Arsenal squad as they prepare to take on Barcelona in the States on Thursday.

It is reported that the 22-year-old worked with an individual coach, and did not go through the 'more intense work' that other members of Mikel Arteta's squad were taking part in on the pitch.

It remains to be seen, therefore, whether Balogun will play any part in Thursday's friendly against Barca.

Speaking last week about the striker's future, Arteta explained (quotes via football.london): "That's why [for his development] we gave him the minutes that he deserves to show what he can do.

"Yeah [I want to see him in the squad this season]. He's just staying here with us at the moment and we will see what happens."

AC Milan, Monaco and RB Leipzig have also been linked as potential suitors for Balogun this summer as it appears increasingly likely that a move away from the Emirates Stadium could happen.
