David Raya was the only Arsenal player not to post after Champions League win over Sevilla, fans think they know why

David Raya started for Arsenal when they played Sevilla in the Champions League

Fans think they have worked out why David Raya didn’t post on social media after Arsenal’s match against Sevilla.

On Wednesday night, Arsenal took a huge step towards the last-16 of the Champions League after beating Spanish La Liga side Sevilla.

Goals from Leandro Trossard and Bukayo Saka sealed a comfortable 2-0 win at the Emirates Stadium for Mikel Arteta’s side.

With two matches remaining, Arsenal are now in a brilliant position to return to the knockout stages of the Champions League for the first time since the 16/17 season.

After the match, Arsenal fans have spotted that goalkeeper Raya did not post on social media after the victory and they think they know the reason.

One fan said: “Every Arsenal player posted on Instagram about last night except David. He just likes his teammates’ posts. He doesn’t even post anymore because he knows what the comments will be like.

“Feel for him tbh. Worst treated player in our team. Can't expect him to settle quickly like this.”

Another tweeted: “You can imagine how he must feel. The media basically portray him like he stole Ramsdale's place.

“Meanwhile his manager gave him the start. Very weird world we live in. Too many people invested in wrecking Arsenal.”

A third fan added: “Social media is an unforgiving place but I DO wish our fans would just SUPPORT the players.

“I remember Martin Ødegaard deactivating social accounts early into his Arsenal career; shouldn't have needed to but I can't blame him!!”

Back in September, Raya made his first Premier League start for Arsenal against Everton, since then, the Spaniard has become Arteta’s first-choice goalkeeper.

A lot has been made about Arteta’s decision to drop Aaron Ramsdale for Raya but the loan signing from Brentford has so far kept six clean sheets in eight appearances across all competitions.

Legendary Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger told beIN Sports last month: “Personally, I like Ramsdale. If I was in his position I would not give up. I believe he has the chance to come back into the team.

“Better… better… I don't know if he's better. I just think Ramsdale has made decisive saves in the games last season. They were not happy maybe with his feet, his distribution.”
