Former Ballon d'Or winner looks unrecognisable in edited image after joking he should be in 'Narcos 4'

Former Ballon d'Or winner looks unrecognisable in edited image after joking he should be in 'Narcos 4'

He looked completely unrecognisable.

A former Ballon d'Or winner looked unrecognisable in an image he posted on social media, as he joked he should star in 'Narcos 4'.

You'll struggle to find a footballer who doesn't have an Instagram account, with many using the social media platform to connect with their supporters across the globe.

Few stars give any real insights into their lives though, with social media teams managing their accounts and only posting professional photos from matches and sponsored content.

Former Ballon d'Or winner Roberto Baggio can't be accused of such behaviour, although his daughter does run the account for him.

Baggio represented the likes of Fiorentina, Juventus, AC Milan, Bologna, Inter Milan and of course Italy during his career, and is regarded as one of the greatest players of all time.

Despite his obvious talent, he only won Serie A twice and never won the European Cup.

The former attacker is unfairly remembered for missing the penalty that cost Italy the 1994 World Cup final, but he won the Ballon d'Or in 1993 and in 1999 was named by FIFA as the third best male player of the 20th century.

The 57-year-old joined Instagram earlier this year, and on Monday shared a photo that tricked plenty of fans.

Baggio posed with a portrait of himself, but he edited the image to add weight to his face and to make his curly hair shoulder length.

With his edited appearance baring resemblance to that of a South American drug cartel member, the Italian captioned the post "Narcos 4 coming soon".

Narcos is a dramatised Netflix series that tells the story of a DEA agent's mission to bring down infamous Colombian drug lord Pablo Escobar.

Along with the retouched image, Baggio shared the original version to clear that he hadn't actually gained a lot of weight since retiring from football in 2004.
