Bayern Munich drop shock team news hint as Thomas Tuchel set to snub key player for Arsenal clash

Bayern Munich drop shock team news hint as Thomas Tuchel set to snub key player for Arsenal clash

It could be a huge boost for Arsenal.

There has been some rather surprising team news emerge from the Bayern Munich camp ahead of their second-leg clash with Arsenal this evening.

Bayern go into the match with home advantage with the scores level following an entertaining first leg at The Emirates.

Arsenal took the lead through Bukayo Saka but a quick turnaround from the Germans saw the Gunners 2-1 down at half time.

Mikel Arteta's men managed to avoid complete disaster in the second half thanks to a late equaliser from Leandro Trossard, but the Gunners will still be up against it at the Allianz Arena.

Bayern are in desperate need of a result considering their disastrous domestic campaign which has seen their 11-year streak of Bundesliga titles broken by Bayer Leverkusen.

Xabi Alonso's Leverkusen are also in the DFB-Pokal final, a competition that Tuchel's Bayern were knocked out in the second round by Saarbrucken in November.

Bayern may be relying on a second-string side due to new injury concerns, particularly on the flanks with Kingsly Coman and Serge Gnabry both out.

According to a report from BILD, Tuchel had been experimenting with players out of their traditional position during the squad's final training session.

The report stated: "There were some surprises in Bayern's final training session today. Thomas Müller was in the 'B' team. Both Noussair Mazraoui and Raphaël Guerreiro played together in the 'A' team. Therefore, it's conceivable that Mazraoui would start at left-back, with Guerreiro starting on the left wing to support the Moroccan defensively. Jamal Musiala would then start at the #10 position."

Guerreiro does have experience playing further up the pitch but he has moved further back throughout his career, often being utilised as a left back.

Arsenal also have an injury concern with captain Martin Odegaard who had picked up a knock, but the Norwegian was in training ahead of tonight's match so Arteta will be hopeful he is at 100%.

The winner of the tie will face the winner of Man City and Real Madrid in the semi-final with Dortmund vs PSG already confirmed.
