Unbelievable Cole Palmer and Mason Mount stat has stunned Chelsea fans, it's crazy

Unbelievable Cole Palmer and Mason Mount stat has stunned Chelsea fans, it's crazy

A comparison between the current and former Blues midfielders has shown quite a contrast.

It was a huge summer of change at Chelsea and Cole Palmer has emerged as the clear signing which has paid off for the Blues.

Palmer made the decision to leave Treble winners Manchester City last summer and switched to Chelsea for a reported initial £40m transfer fee, as City cashed in on the Academy product.

The 21-year-old has been Chelsea's best piece of business from last summer, after scoring 14 goals in 34 games.

It well eclipses the six goals Palmer managed in 41 matches for City, who enjoyed most of his appearances for Pep Guardiola's side coming off the bench.

One player who headed out of Stamford Bridge last summer who has not had the same instant impact that Palmer has is Mason Mount.

With a year left to go on his Chelsea contract, Manchester United agreed an initial £55m transfer fee for Mount, but he has not had much impact at Erik ten Hag's side.

Mount has made only 13 appearances for so far for United, but has missed large parts of the season due to injury, and he has been restricted to just seven starts in all competitions.

The 25-year-old came through the youth team ranks at Stamford Bridge as he scored 33 goals in 195 games.

But a remarkable statistic has emerged comparing Mount and Palmer's time at Chelsea, and specifically the assists they have provided from open play at Stamford Bridge.

In the Premier League, Mount provided seven assists from open play in 129 games.

However, even though Palmer is still only his first season at Chelsea, he has set up seven goals in just 23 Premier League games.

And it is a figure which has stunned Chelsea fans on the social media platform formerly known as Twitter when comparing the stats of the duo.

One fan wrote: "We're clear."

Another posted: "Palmer is clear."

A third added: "A better replacement here."

While a fourth posted: "Not even a comparison."

One fan, meanwhile, had a comprehensive verdict: "Mason Mount was a baller in Chelsea but it's safe to say that Palmer is clear. Palmer is a much more productive player than Mount."

And another fan posted: "We really upgraded on Mount."
